Education and career

The Free State of Thuringia is one of the most important educational location for the solar branch in Germany. For the dynamical growth of solar enterprises in Thuringia and the cluster of excellence “Solarvalley Mitteldeutschland” the educational institutions provide a pool of well-trained experts along all the entire value chain of the photovoltaic and all the qualification levels.

Within its cluster network, SolarInput furthers and supports measures for development and securing of highly qualified experts, for example the creation of endowed professorships at the universities. But also in promoting young talents, the Thuringian cluster is a strong partner. By initiative of SolarInput members, Erfurt has seen the solar construction competition for children and teenages since 2003, which has been held by the Thuringian network partners every year in the meantime. Pupils are given insights into the exciting world of experience of the sun and concern themselves in a playful way with the future subject of “solar energy and photovoltaic”. Furthermore a mobile solar academy, equipped with an interactive learning concept and a solar center for children accomplish important work in promoting of young talents.

As a part of the "Solarvalley Mitteldeutschland", SolarInput manages the Thuringian solar cluster, combining the existing educational structures and competencies and develops it as a part of the countrywide education concept in Central Germany.
